Who we are
About Divine Counseling
Welcome to Divine counseling services! The business was originally founded and began in May 2012. I started in a small office in Stephenville, Texas and eventually moved to a larger office. I started working in Waco, Texas in June of 2020. I worked in both offices until April of 2021.
As my patients built up, I added associates as needed. Sherry McNary is a licensed professional associate, and her focus is on trauma and children. I have a variety of areas I work with and would be my ideal patients: Marriage and Family Therapy, Trauma with adults, veterans, and children, play therapy, depression/anxiety, & hypnosis.

Owner and CEO
Melissa Schniers
Hi, I am Dr. Melissa L. Schniers and would like to share my education and experience. I graduated from Dublin High School in 1992 and following high school, I joined the US Navy from 1994-1997. My college journey started at Chaminade University while I was enlisted in the Navy, and after an honorable discharge attended Tarleton State University with my Bachelor of Science in psychology and my Masters of Science in counseling psychology. I did two practicums working at Erath Excels Academy Charter School and Pecan Valley Centers for Behavioral & Developmental Healthcare. At the practicum site, I continued as an adult case manager, youth case manager, cognitive based therapist, and area manager for 8 years. My journey continued as a therapist and supervisor with my business, Divine Counseling Services 10 years working with veterans, individuals, marriage and families. I attended college again in 2016 to purse my Doctorate of Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas Wesleyan University. There was an opportunity to move to Waco in 2021 where I worked at TJJD for 1 year and continued to work part-time at my office in Waco.
Mission statement
Get your life back
My mission statement is “Get Your Life Back.” This statement came after a difficult time in 2012. Not only do I want my patients to get their life back, but I also wanted to get my own life back. There are difficult situations and events in life that are very challenging. I want to help equip people with the power and the courage to take back what is theirs.

The search for a therapist who “gets you” can be exhausting. How do you pick from an endless list of contenders? The goal is to find someone who is authentic and can offer you a safe space to process and grow. The good news is you have taken the first step to find a counselor who can join you on your journey to self-discovery and higher functioning. This is not an easy step and I applaud you.
As a foster/adoptive mom, I have been on the same journey you are on now. I know from experience therapy can be hard and life changing. With the right counselor, you can begin to recognize obstacles in your path and how to minimize those obstacles.
My therapeutic style is respectful, non-judgmental, and empathetic. I create an environment where you can speak without restriction. An environment where you are heard and acknowledged. I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist specializing in trauma and depression. I utilize a variety of techniques to assist you in healing and reaching your mental health goals. You deserve a therapist who is open minded and passionate about the work they do. I am that therapist.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you in your healing journey.
